Waste Management

There is a disposal cost associated with virtually every type of waste. Some waste will be costing you twice, you pay once for the raw material/product and then again to dispose of some of it as waste.

We can help you identify and minimise the costs of your waste.

Are you sure you’re fulfilling your duty of care?

Anyone who produces waste at work has duties defined in s34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990. These are legally binding and it is a criminal offence not to fulfil them. This legislation carries a due diligence clause, which means that employers must devise a system for removal of waste to meet legislation, and check that the system is effective.

We can carry out a compliance audit to ensure you are complying with the Duty of Care.

Is the way in which your waste treated the most cost-effective?

Landfill may no longer be the best way
There have been many changes in technology and legal requirements. The traditional methods of disposal such as landfill may no longer be the best way to dispose of the types and amounts of waste you produce. The government has already pledged to significantly increase the fee for landfill to encourage employers to use other methods of waste management.

By auditing your waste streams we can advise on the most cost-effective treatment and disposal methods for the waste you produce.

Is the waste you generate segregated into separate waste streams?

By segregating waste into different streams it may be possible to re-use some of the waste or sell it to other companies as a raw material. The Landfill Regulations require waste to be segregated and pre-treated before disposal. Failing to do this may increase the cost of disposal considerably.

A waste stream analysis will identify potential waste streams, and we can also investigate possible markets for your waste and optimum methods of treatment and disposal.
