Emergency First-Aid at Work (HSE)

Introduction

As an HSE-approved training organisation, we offer the new Emergency First-Aid at Work course. This course can be adapted to suit a particular audience and is ideal for lower risk businesses, in accordance with guidance and the Approved Code of Practice to the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981. The course is run over one day and includes both theory and practical sessions, in a relaxed atmosphere, designed to boost a candidate's confidence.

Suitable for:

Appointed first-aiders and those who may need to administer first-aid.

Course objectives

On completion of training, successful delegates should be able to administer basic first-aid in an emergency situation. This course follows the new HSE syllabus effective from September 2009.

Duration

One day

Exam Format

A short multi-choice questionnaire and continual assessment throughout the day.

100% attendance is required in order to be eligible for the examination.

  • Welcome and introduction to the course
  • The role of the first-aider
  • Priorities of first aid
  • Respiration and circulation
  • Treatment for choking
  • Management of bleeding
  • Treatment for shock
  • Treatment of minor injuries
