      What does the IOSH Principles of Safety in Healthcare Refresher Training cover?

      This course is specifically tailored for individuals who have completed the IOSH Principles of Safety Management in Healthcare within the last three years.

      Designed to offer ongoing support to Healthcare Managers and colleagues engaged in health and safety management within healthcare centres and practices, this course serves the following objectives:

      • To review and refresh participants’ knowledge of key management responsibilities covered in the IOSH Principles of Safety Management in Healthcare course.
      • To update participants on the latest developments in good practice guidelines, legislation, and standards of HSE and CQC requirements.

      This training can be delivered in person or online.

      Course includes:

      • Re-introducting the concept of management principles for effective health and safety in a healthcare enviroment
      • Legal update and key changes since intial training was recived
      • Claification / identification of key responsibilities under law
      • Causes of accidents, the cost, and reporting / recording requirements and claims
      • Assessing risks
      • Refresher on key Health and Safety topics relevant to healthcare professionals
      • Revisit the components of a successful management system: Plan, Do, Check, Act

      All staff in an organisation who have previously sat and passed the IOSH Principles of Safety Management in Healthcare, within the last three years.

      Upon course completion, participants will be equipped to:

      • Relay the key changes to health and safety legislation, enforcement and good practice standards in a healthcare establishment (modules 1 and 2 )
      • Refresh and practice the latest approaches to risk assessment (module 5)
      • Understand current processes for effective safety management, regarding relevant HSE/CQC standards for health and safety (modules 1, 3 and 6)
      • Understand the benefits and limitations of different control measures and how these can be integrated into other healthcare processes ( modules 4, 5 and 6)
      • Establish helpful performance measurements, using leading and lagging indicators (module 6.

      This training course is delivered over one day.

      An examination paper comprising15 multiple-choice questions lasting a maximum of 30 minutes.
