The NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate is a globally recognised qualification that will teach you how to implement and improve effective environmental management systems, recognise associated impacts, support decision-making, and understand the connection between your organisation’s EMS and wider environmental issues.
The syllabus of this engaging course includes UK, EU and international references.
The NEBOSH Environmental Certificate is a crucial first step towards establishing a lifelong professional career in environmental management and gives you an excellent base to progress on to an Environmental Diploma.
Many organisations use this qualification to help them achieve and maintain certification against recognised international standards, such as ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems. They will significantly improve the skills and knowledge of your team, enabling your organisation to meet its environmental objectives.
The NEBOSH Environmental Certificate will enable you to understand how to reduce environmental impacts, protecting you from litigation, damaging incidents and loss of reputation.
The new improved April 2021 syllabus has been developed by NEBOSH following extensive consultation with key stakeholders. The syllabus content remains broadly the same as the previous specification as the technical content is in line with best environmental management practices. However, the assessments have been changed as follows:
- The previous EC1 structured response examination has been replaced with an open-book examination with real-life scenarios and many theoretical and practical questions on environmental management. This gives learners the flexibility to take the examination without needing to sit at an examination centre.
- The previous EC2 risk assessment has been replaced by a more relevant practical assessment which requires learners to assess environmental aspects and impacts in their chosen workplace.
NEBOSH qualifications are categorised as ‘Other’ qualifications by SQA Accreditation in Scotland. These are categorised as Vocationally-Related Qualifications (VRQs) in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
VRQs provide the knowledge and practical skills required for particular job roles through a structured study-based training programme, which combines the assessment of knowledge and understanding in written examinations with practical application of learning in the workplace. VRQs are a popular type of qualification because they are nationally recognised, flexible and offer routes for progression to employment or further study.
In England this is comparable to a Vocationally Related Qualification (VRQ) at level 3 within the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF), or an A-Level standard.
After completing your NEBOSH Environmental Management Course and obtaining your qualification certificate, you can further your knowledge with other NEBOSH Courses. We also offer a NEBOSH National General Certification Course.
